Metafit Review

Metafit Review

Metafit is a 30 minute HIIT workout that keeps on working for 24 hours. I have been going to Metafit classes for almost 8 months, and I would definitely never look back.

Before Metafit, I hadn’t exercised much in a while. I must admit, I was scared to attend my first. I had heard a lot of good and bad things about it, so I bit the bullet and went.

My First Class

My first class went well, I felt like it was the hardest I had ever worked out. Because the classes are so short, you don’t think they would be that hard. You won’t know until you attend though just how tough they are.

Anyone can attend a Metafit Class, it doesn’t matter how fit you are. There are a lot of different tracks available with scary names like the ‘Badboy’ workout ‘The Shredder’ & ‘House of Pain’, so it gets mixed up almost every week. New tracks are also released regularly.

You work through rounds, carrying out various exercises such as burpes, squat jumps, oblique squat trusts, sprints and more. Each individual works at the pace that suits them, although it is important that you do pace yourself.

If you ever feel like it’s easier, run faster, jump higher and work harder. That’s what is so good about Metafit, it doesn’t matter how long you have been going, it never gets easier.

Sometimes it feels like the longest half hour of your life, but the benefits are amazing. I feel a lot fitter, healthier and now attend a lot more classes that I don’t think I would have ever tried if it wasn’t for Metafit.

The length is also good, as if your busy or don’t have much time for hour long classes, you can get the same benefits from this class.

TIP: Be prepared to feel sore in places you didn’t even know could be sore.

Body Attack Review

Body Attack Review

Body Attack is probably the most fun fitness class I have been to. It is definitely a hard workout, but the moves involved makes it a lot more enjoyable and you almost don’t notice how much work you are doing.

This class is definitely cardio based. For the full class you are jumping and running around, but also doing squats, lunges and push ups.

The music involved, people around you and also the instructors push you to work hard, challenge yourself and get the most out of the class.

Whole Body Workout

Body Attack is a whole body workout. Instructors will give you alternative moves to fit your fitness level, so it really is suitable for all.

It is said to improve coordination and agility, and I would agree with that. I am not the fastest at picking up moves etc, I am definitely no dancer.

After a few Body Attack classes, I felt a lot more comfortable. When the newer release came out, I felt I picked it up a lot faster than the first, which is something that is unusual for me.
If you watched an Attack class from the outside, with no music and no idea what the class was, you would think that everyone was nuts.

It is though, one of the most enjoyable fitness classes out there in my opinion. I feel a lot more comfortable, and focused than Body Combat.

Some say that Attack is the hardest Les Mills class, which I would probably agree with, except I’m not thinking about the workout as much as the rest.

I would say that although it is a whole body workout, the class involved a lot of legs, and I always feel it the next day.

For anyone who wants to enjoy their workout, I would definitely recommend Body Attack

Body Pump Review

Body Pump Review

The first time I walked into a Body Pump Class I was confused. I had tried Combat & Attack so it only made sense to see what Pump was about.

When I saw all of the equipment needed, I didn’t know what I had put myself in for. I went over, picked up relatively light weights and set up.

I was quite confused with what I was doing, and just tried to copy what everyone around me had.

My advice for anyone trying Body Pump for the first time would be to arrive a good 10 minutes early, set up and ask your instructor what weights he thinks you should be using for your experience etc.

The class itself was tough. Unlike Combat & Attack, it isn’t cardio based, but this doesn’t mean you are not burning calories.

There are different tracks, focusing on different parts of the body and you are using weights to work out. This can vary from squats, lunges, push presses to biceps curls with weight on a bar. Some parts of tracks you also use free weights.

A Class for All Fitness Levels

You are constantly changing the weight on your bar to suit which muscles you use, and after your first class you will have an idea of what will suit you best. From there you can gradually increase what you use if they become too easy.

I didn’t expect to enjoy a strength based class, as me personally I don’t want to build a lot of muscle. The thought of lifting weights in a way scared me, but doing more reps with light weight will not build muscle, it helps tone.

Depending on what you want from your exercise, you can lift heavier weights etc. That’s what I believe is best about Body Pump. No matter what you want to achieve, this class can help. As you are choosing what weights to lift, this means it can suit a lot of fitness levels.

Body Combat Review

Body Combat Review

Les Mills fitness classes have become huge the past few years, and Body Combat is one of the most popular.

With many gyms having the class available daily, it’s no wonder so many people attend on a weekly basis.

The class has many benefits, including toning and shaping muscle groups, burning calories and improving posture and core strength.

The hour long class focuses on different muscle groups, using different tracks. Body Combat is martial arts based exercise, using moves from Karate, Muay Thia, Kickboxing and more. In other words, you uppercut and jump kick your way to fitness.

My Body Combat Experience

When I first went to Body Combat my expectations were quite low. Quite a few people had told me that the class was great but I didn’t think much of it.

A few things surprised me with it. First of all, it was a lot harder than I thought. An hour long class is never going to be easy, but with Body Combat you are thrown right into the deep end (in a good way).

I also didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Although it was hard, the different moves and music made it a lot more fun.

All the moves and tracks are relatively easy to pick up, and after a few classes you will be able to do them in your sleep.

What’s also great about Body Combat is that they release new choreography and music every few months. The new tracks are usually harder, but it stops you getting bored. You are usually doing roughly the same exercises, with different adaptions etc.

Anyone who is looking for a hard but enjoyable workout, I would recommend a Body Combat class.

The Beginning

Health & Fitness - The Beginning

Life is a journey, not a destination” –  Ralph Waldo Emerson

I guess you could say the same about health and fitness. Wherever you’re going, you keep on going when you get there, but the hardest part is to get started.

Before you even begin, you have to be in the right mind set, and make sure you don’t set a goal that is unachievable. If you think you’re going to lose a stone in weight and have a 6 pack in 2 weeks, unfortunately you won’t.

Healthy Eating

What you eat/don’t eat is probably the biggest factor in health and fitness. Changing your diet will be challenging but there’s no easy way out of it.

There’s also no easy answer to what you should eat, it all depends on what you want to achieve. If you’re looking to gain muscle or lose weight, both diets will be completely different, but healthy.

You need to decide what you want to achieve, but there are a lot of products on the market that can help you. My Fitness Pal is a website & app that you can use to do this. And there are many more similar on the market.

You put in your weight, height, roughly how often you exercise etc, and what you want to gain/lose. It tells you how much you should roughly eat in a day, and how long it will take you to lose it.

It’s obvious for a healthy diet, you should avoid things like alcohol, junk food, coffee etc, but we all know this isn’t always possible. Make sure you allow yourself a day/meal in a week where you can eat what you want, then at least you know there is something to look forward to whenever you think you want to eat something ‘bad’.

The 80/20 rule is sometimes a good way to look at things. So if 80% of the week or even day you eat healthy, it’s ok to be.. not so healthy.. the other 20%. AND DRINK WATER
